Welcome to the Multimodal Stories for Language and Cultural Exchange website, which showcases a project that involved school students in Australia and China creating and exchanging multimodal stories to help them learn about each other's language, culture and traditional tales.
The project, which commenced in 2012, was funded by the Australia-China Council and led by Associate Professors Grace Oakley and Mark Pegrum from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Western Australia, Professor Cher Ping Lim from the Hong Kong Institute of Education, and Professor Hanbing Yan from the East China Normal University in Shanghai, China. Xibei Xiong from the Hong Kong Institute of Education also played a key facilitation role.
This website describes the project and aims to provide advice and instructions to other schools that may wish to set up similar Australia-China linkages.
Note: Photographs on this page of Guilin (left and background) and Shanghai (above) were taken by Grace Oakley in January 2013 and April 2014 and may be reused under a CC BY 3.0 licence.
